On Christmas Day, the Kansas City Chiefs will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers at 1 pm ET.
Later in the day, the Baltimore Ravens will take on the Houston Texans at 4:30 pm ET.
Both of those games are expected to have huge viewership, and there are concerns about Netflix’s abilities to handle that traffic.
Travis Kelce will be playing in one of the Christmas Day games, and he shared how he hopes it is a better viewing experience than what he saw during Paul-Tyson.
“Hopefully Netflix can figure it out as well,” Kelce said.
“Hopefully they get the streaming stuff right,” Jason Kelce replied.
“My s*** got froze literally on Mike Tyson’s cheeks,” Travis continued.
“It felt like a parody going into it.”
Jason and Travis spent a few minutes laughing about Netflix exposing Tyson’s bare bum during the stream before returning to talk about the Christmas Day games.
Hopefully Netflix, back to the point, can figure out [the streaming],” he said.
“Especially if we’re going to be watching all of the Christmas games on Netflix.
“I was pretty p***ed it kept going in and out. It kicked me off about four or five times.”
While Netflix had major issues during its boxing event, the company is committing to improving before the NFL games.
Netflix CTO Elizabeth Stone took accountability for the flaws and said the company would learn from the rough night.
This unprecedented scale created many technical challenges, which the launch team tackled brilliantly by prioritizing stability of the stream for the majority of viewers,” Stone wrote in a company memo.
“I’m sure many of you have seen the chatter in the press and on social media about the quality issues.
“We don’t want to dismiss the poor experience of some members, and know we have room for improvement, but still consider this event a huge success.”
Netflix has about a month to figure out what went wrong or to improve the parts of their service that were too weak for the boxing event.
