According to Fox News, 9-year-old Janie Hunt, one of the Camp Mystic campers who died in the Texas floods, is a family member of Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt.
Janie’s family confirmed her death in a statement to PEOPLE, sharing, “We are devastated.”
PEOPLE previously reported that the Christian girls’ camp had experienced catastrophic flooding after deadly waters swept through the state on Friday, July 4.
Following the devastating news, Clark’s wife Tavia Hunt released an emotional statement on Instagram.

“Our hearts are broken by the devastation from the floods in Wimberley and the tragic loss of so many lives – including a precious little Hunt cousin, along with several friend’s little girls,” she wrote in the Instagram post.
“How do we trust a God who is supposed to be good, all knowing and all powerful, but who allows such terrible things to happen — even to children?” she added.
