Brittany Mahomes in Tears Over Patrick Mahomes’ Postgame Message
The Kansas City Chiefs took down the Pittsburgh Steelers 29-10 on Christmas Day, moving to 15-1 on the season and officially clinching the No. 1 seed.
In their hunt to win a historic Super Bowl three-peat, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes couldn’t be more thrilled to secure a first-round bye and home field advantage. “It shows the toughness of the team,” he told reporters after the game. “Getting that No. 1 seed is important. It’s like winning a playoff game.”
However, Mahomes, who completed 76.3% of his passes for 320 yards and three touchdowns against the Steelers, was pumped to earn the No. 1 seed for a more personal reason, as well. Turns out, Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes, who’s pregnant with the couple’s third baby, is due “any day now.”
Mahomes revealed during his postgame interview, “I told my wife I was gonna get her the No. 1 seed so we can go have that baby.”
Brittany, who’s expecting a baby girl, didn’t attend that Chiefs-Steelers matchup at Acrisure Stadium. However, she strongly reacted to her husband’s postgame shoutout.
“Always keeping his promises 🥹🤍,” she posted on her Instagram Stories.
The three-time Super Bowl MVP and his wife are already parents to Sterling, 3, and Patrick “Bronze” Lavon, 2. During training camp, when the couple announced that they were expecting baby No. 3, Mahomes made it clear that would also be their last. “I’m done,” he told reporters.
This marks the Mahomes’ final Christmas as a family of four, which Brittany commemorated with a new album of photos before Mahomes traveled to Pittsburgh for the Week 17 matchup.
The Chiefs conclude the regular season with a road game against the Denver Broncos in Week 18. However, with the No. 1 seed under their belt, it seems unlikely that Mahomes and the rest of the team’s starters will play.
However, that’s “completely up to Coach (And Reid),” Mahomes told reporters.
