News Now: Even with the increment of the money from $20M to $80M, Andy Reid wish to retire and come to his family, he made himself clear with 2 important decision….
While most NFL fans have been focused on how the Chiefs will improve their wide receiver position and address offseason player departures, the back-to-back world champs pulled off another sneaky move during the build up to the 2024 season.
Andy Reid’s team has signed a veteran QB with a Super Bowl pedigree.
Patrick Mahomes will be backed up by Carson Wentz in 2024, after Kansas City inked the 31-year-old vet to a one-year deal.
“He’s gonna be the Nick Foles to the Chiefs and win their 3-peat,” one fan said.
“This is definitely going to get them over the hump,” a second fan joked.
“It’s over for Mahomes,” a third fan also joked.
It wasn’t that long ago that Wentz was one of the hottest names in the NFL.
Now, the former No. 2 overall pick is set to become QB insurance for the Chiefs as they push for three consecutive world titles.
Wentz attended North Dakota State and was a franchise-changing selection by Philadelphia in 2016.
He made one Pro Bowl and finished third in MVP voting in 2017.
But his big early numbers quickly faded, with Wentz losing his job and beginning to bounce across the NFL.
After spending 2016-20 with Philly, he has played for Indianapolis, Washington and the Los Angeles Rams.
Wentz is 47-45-1 as a starter with 22,292 passing yards, 153 touchdowns and 67 interceptions.
He will bring poise and experience to the Chiefs as they attempt to defend their Super Bowl title.
And if Mahomes needs to take a game off, Wentz will be ready to step up, seven years removed from being one of the best QBs in the sport.
Kansas City has stayed busy in 2024 after winning Super Bowl LVIII against San Francisco in Las Vegas.
While Taylor Swift has spent time with Travis Kelce, the Chiefs signed former Wales rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit.
