Taylor Swift Scores a Landmark 13th Week at No. 1 on Albums Chart After Brief Dip from Top Spot
On Sunday, Aug. 4, the pop superstar’s latest album The Tortured Poets Department returned to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart, marking the album’s 13th week at the top of the chart, according to Billboard.
Throughout the “Cruel Summer” singer’s prolific, 18-year career, none of her other albums have even come within striking distance of this record number of weeks in the top spot: Prior to Tortured Poets, her most for an album was 11 weeks at No. 1, completed by both Fearless and 1989.
Swift’s chart achievement is made even more impressive by the fact that Tortured Poets’ first 12 weeks at No. 1 were logged consecutively, meaning the performer reigned at the top of the chart for nearly three straight months following the album’s release in April.
