Lia Thomas, a former University of Pennsylvania swimmer, has been at the center of discussions regarding transgender athletes in sports. I’m a woman, so I belong on the women’s team.”

In response to the International Swimming Federation’s (FINA) decision in June 2022 to restrict transgender women from competing in women’s events, Thomas expressed disappointment, labeling the policy as discriminatory. “It is discriminatory and will only serve to harm all women,” she stated.
